OUR COMMUNITY

MORE THAN A CHURCH

WHO WE ARE

Above all, we are followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that He was the Son of God and that He truly meant what He said to His disciples: “I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” We live our lives believing in His word.

At the Felgueiras Peace Baptist Church, our mission is to invite people to an encounter with God that will lead to a transformation in the image of the love that gives life.

WHERE WE CAME FROM

The Felgueiras Peace Baptist Church began as a church on April 13, 1991. A small group of brothers and sisters who gathered in a family home to study the Word of God and pray, moved by the Holy Spirit, soon became a not-so-small group, and before they knew it, they were starting a church.

On March 2, they became part of the Catch The Fire family, and the Peace Baptist Church became a Catch The Fire church.

WHERE ARE WE GOING

We are always moving toward the earth, which looks more like heaven. This seems to foster a community that loves, worships, and believes in the impossible. We move as a community that puts one foot in front of the other, following the wind of the Holy Spirit one step at a time.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU

What does this mean for you? Most importantly, you are always welcome at the Baptist Church of Peace in Felgueiras. We are saving a place for you. Wherever you are on your journey of faith, you will always be accepted as part of the IBPF family.

OUR VALUES

INSTITUIÇÕES DE FÉ

WHAT WE BELIEVE

  • That there is one God who lives forever in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit; (Matthew 28:19)

  • That the Bible is the Word of God in the world, speaking to us with authority and without error; (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

  • In the divinity of Jesus Christ the Son, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His death for us on the cross, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the Father, and in His return to rule the earth with power and love; (John 1:14-18; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18)

  • That the Holy Spirit dwells in us as believers, bringing into our lives love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. We believe that He works in and through us with His spiritual gifts. (Gal. 5:22-23 and 1 Cor. 12:7-11).

  • That the main purpose of Jesus Christ's life on earth was to fully reveal the love of God the Father to the world through His ministry, life, death on the cross, and resurrection. (John 3:16 and John 5:19-20).

  • That all humanity is lost in sin and needs to repent and personally trust Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord, with the need to be born again by the power of the Holy Spirit and participate in the family of God. (Eph. 2:1-10 and John 3:5-7).

  • In the resurrection of man: eternal life for Christians and eternal judgment for the lost; (Matthew 25:31-46)

  • In the fellowship of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, we seek to live in community in order to be like Him in every way, who is the head of the Body, the Church. We are called to love Him by loving one another—and we are able to do this only when His life flows through us. (1 Cor. 12:12-13; Matt. 22:37-40).

  • That marriage is the basic human relationship between a man and a woman, and as such is intended to reflect the relationship between Jesus Christ, the bridegroom, and His bride, the church. (Gen. 2:18-25 and Eph. 5:25-32)
